Francine and other residents of Coler have been confined within the Coler Rehabilitation and Nursing Care Center for nearly a year. Before the pandemic, Francine was able to visit her family twice a week and would help take care of her young nephew. Now only left with video calls and text messages, Francine laments that it is not the same as the warmth of being with her beloved family members.

Image Description:
Picture of Coler Rehabilitation and Nursing Care Center window with Francine peering through gazing longfully at the outside world. Text is laid out along the bottom border of the window and brick wall of Coler. The text read, ” Just seeing them on the phone is not enough. -On discussing missing her family. Francine, Coler Resident.” The image speaks volumes on the isolation nursing home residents face as they can view the reality denied to them by health officials right outside their window.
