The Motorgate parking garage in Roosevelt Island is an amazing reinforced concrete edifice at the end of the only bridge to Roosevelt Island and Queens. Motorgate was initially envisioned as the place where all personal vehicles would park, and residents of Roosevelt Island would use the minitransit system, “which may be electric, air-cushioned, horizontal elevator, or a combination of these.”
